Your MICHAL pieces are made from fine silks and delicate laces—here's how to keep them looking that way.
Hand Washing Silk
- Use a mild soap (wool shampoo or pure household soap flakes).
- Wash and delicately rinse in cold water.
- Fill the sink again with cold water and add a teaspoon of white vinegar to help remove soap residue.
- Rinse it once more in cold running water.
- Lay your silk out on a fresh towel to dry, or hang it up and allow to air dry.
- Iron at the coolest setting, on the inside of the garment, to create a seamless shine.
Machine Washing Silk
- Place your silk inside a mesh laundry bag before washing.
- Add a mild soap (wool and silk soap).
- Select a cool, delicate cycle with the shortest spin cycle.
- Lay it out on a fresh towel to dry, or hang it up and allow to air dry.
- Iron at the coolest setting, on the inside of the garment, to create a seamless shine.
- Do not tumble dry, and keep your silk out of direct sunlight.
Hand Washing Delicates & Lingerie
- Fill a sink or spacious bowl with lukewarm water. Add two capfuls of lingerie wash and swish it around.
- Gently place your delicate items into the water, ensuring even coverage of suds.
- Let your lingerie soak for up to 30 minutes.
- Run each piece under lukewarm water until it runs clear.
- Press or gently squeeze out the water, then lay flat to dry or hang evenly on a hanger or drying rack.
Hand washing takes a little more effort, but it prolongs the life of delicate pieces and keeps their fit and shape intact.
A Note on Bras
While hand washing is preferable, if you need to machine-wash your bras: secure the hooks, place them in a lingerie bag, and avoid the dryer—that's where most of the damage happens.
